Each month, Barb Vlack coordinates a design challenge at www.doyoueq.com. This is an Electric Quilt software project, and each month’s challenge is designed to require the designer to learn a different feature of the software. This month’s challenge is to design a quilt using blocks of different sizes. This requires not only choosing blocks that play well with each other, but also deciding how to set them in the quilt design. This is my design, appropriately called “Spring is Coming!”
The large block is a pattern called “Starlight” and is block 3858 in Block Base software. The smaller block is a design I drew to complement the larger blocks. They are very busy together so I used a setting with a lot of open space so they would not overwhelm each other. I used spring colors because it is a cold, rainy and dreary day here in Northern California. I am anxious for spring to come, can you tell?
