March 2011

March Medley Block

Since it is the last day of March, I am sliding in just under the wire on this one.  This block is called March Medley and is this month’s block for the Electric Quilt block of the month challenge.

I made this block three times because I didn’t like the color placement in the other two. It is remarkable how different this block looks by just rearranging the colors. I had the dark colors on the outer blocks in the first two tries and really didn’t care for them. This one is better, and also looks better with the January and February blocks.

In the next day or two the April block will be posted on the EQ blog and it will be time to start all over again!

A New Pattern in the Shop

I have a new pattern in my Etsy shop for this fun pillow:

I love the little bird!

I am in the mood for Spring, can you tell? I loved embroidering this with bright colors – a nice contrast to the cold, rainy weather today. Hope it’s warm and dry where you are!

A Snowflake for Deanna

In my Journal Round Robin Bee, Deanna is using a darling snowman fabric as her focus and has asked us to do a traditional block for her.  This is Deanna’s block:

A beautiful Dresden fan block, with those cute snowmen peeking out!  This is the block I made for Deanna:

I thought it would be fun to make something that resembled a snowflake, and incorporate her snowmen.

The blocks look great together:

Other members of the bee have also made her some very whimsical blocks. This quilt is going to be super cute!?

Getting Back to the Machine

Sometimes spending time in the sewing room is just not an option and that has been the case for me for the last three weeks. Today things are quiet and I have enjoyed some time for me, so that meant heading straight for the sewing machine. I have a list of things waiting to be completed and today I got two of them under control. The first was part of my handmade swap gift for my swap partner in the Make Mine Modern swap. Here is a little sneak peek at part of it. I don’t want to show it all because my swap partner might be lurking around here…

And the second completed project is block ten for the Layer Cake Quiltalong over at Moose Quilts. A fun flower block…

That’s my sharing for today. I am heading back to the sewing machine to see what else I can get done today!
